The bees are getting busy! The bees are getting busy!Thought I'd share a few pictures of the bees that are floating around our tree!
They made me smile with all their frantic buzzing proud new mummy to Dolly, Molly, Hetty, Betty and Holly (who accidentally jumped into the box!) :)
Re: The bees are getting busy!Yes, I was standing by my tall berberis and it was so noisy. Was there some poem that said 'bee-loud'.

We have some down the Lane which is good. Bad news is I found a Hornet about half the size of my thumb in the front garden yesterday. Hope it's not one of those French Killer one's !! Richard New Member? Get more from the Forum and join in 'Members Chat' - you're very welcome
Re: The bees are getting busy! Not sure about the other pictures but I am not sure that the last picture is of a bee but is possibly a hover fly.
Bees have shorter wings, longer antennae, different eyes and hairy legs, especially back legs where they have a specialist structure of hairs that form the pollen basket. That is not to say however that hover flies are not important pollinators, they certainly are - and they don't sting which is good for us! Here's a picture of a honey bee we took last year. Michael
