Been to the doctorsBeen to the doctorsHe said to try vitamin B12 suppliment, as I do have arthritis.
I have a tub here, that was sent by mistake last year. He said to take 1000 mg. But the lot I have here, have 100 mcg written on the box. That has gone right over my head. Are they one of the same ? Or will I need to take more of these. If I can use the tub up it is better, than having to buy a new lot. http://www.busheyk9.co.uk
If you can't be a good example........ you will just have to be a horrible warning Re: Been to the doctorsI have just looked it up and no, they are not the same, but I am so confused that I haven't a clue how many you should take

Re: Been to the doctorsHmm - I tried to work it out, but concluded that you needed to take 10,000 tablets per day, so I think I should step away from the discussion

Re: Been to the doctors1mg = 1000 mcg. Um, I would say get a new box of tablets.

Re: Been to the doctorsDid he say what the vit b12 supplement would do for you, Wendy. I have osteo-arthritis and did take glucosamine sulphate, but kept forgetting to take it - I'm rubbish when it comes to taking it on a daily basis - ask me to drink a glass of wine a day and I bet I wouldn't have a problem with that one!

Re: Been to the doctorsI have to have vitimin b12 jabs every 3 months for pernicious anaemia and OUCH they hurt.
Re: Been to the doctors
I do take glucosime & chondrotin daily. He said any loss of feeling you should first try B 12. This is what I have just found on 'ternet. "A numb feeling in your fingers is not only irritating, but it could signal an unknown condition, injury or nutrient deficiency. Check with your practitioner about tests to determine where the problem lies. Your doctor may find that boosting your intake of vitamin B12 through food or supplements may solve the problem. Connection between B12 and Finger Numbness Vitamin B12 helps maintain healthy nerve cells. You may experience numbness in your fingers if your fingers' nerve cells don't receive the nutrients needed to develop and maintain proper nerve function. Numbness or tingling in the toes or fingers are a possible sign of B12 deficiency, according to the University of Maryland Medical Center, or UMMC." I also have a problem rembering tablets, Greta. Usually my calcium ones But again no problem with wine either. Strange that ! http://www.busheyk9.co.uk

Re: Been to the doctorsHiya Wendy, are you sure your doc said to take 1000mg/milligrams (which also means 1g/gram, or 1,000,000mcg/micrograms)?
Reason for asking is I've checked the BNF (British National Formulary) for you and it says daily dose for an adult, orally, is 50-150mcg/micrograms. Here you go..... "CYANOCOBALAMIN Dose By mouth, vitamin B12 deficiency of dietary origin, 50–150 micrograms daily taken between meals" So going by that you should be able to use your existing supply, just make sure they aren't out of date If you're unsure though, I'd give your doc a ring to clarify.

Wendy, are you certain he said 1000mg (milligrams)? A reasonable High-dose supplement would be 1000mcg (micrograms), ie 10 of the 100mcg tabs you have. Re: Been to the doctorsI agree that the dose seems fairly high. I'd go back and speak to him again as he maybe meant 100mcg rather than mg.
Hope you're not having too much pain from the arthritis The talent for being happy is appreciating and liking what you have, instead of what you don't have
