wool felted picture done
wool felted picture doneThis is my attempt at a wool felted picture which I am quite pleased with. However I didn't find alpaca wool easy to work with and not sure if I will do any more. Also dying the wool not easy. Anyway one at least done but have no idea what to do with this 15ins square picture. I did get inspiration of the picture from a book but changed it a bit. The wool was given to me by my son and d in law who have a flock of alpacas and inundated with wool last year. I am now a widow and live with my memories.
Re: wool felted picture doneWOW how clever, June.
I would have thought it was a kit. But you saying you got inspiration from a book and dying the wool. I am mighty impressed. It is really lovely. It needs framing and pride of place. http://www.busheyk9.co.uk
If you can't be a good example........ you will just have to be a horrible warning
Re: wool felted picture doneI'm sure a kit would have been so much easier Wendy but I did it because I was given the raw fleece. It is such a wet and mucky process to prepare it from fleece especially as you can't agitate the wool in the process in case it becomes accidentally felted and it was so dirty. Luckily we had hot weather when I could put it out to dry. I have now given most away but kept a little back in case I become inspired again.
The sheep and the fence are similar to the original picture but the flowers and clouds etc I put in. This was a try out and wanted to get the feel of working it. I am now a widow and live with my memories.
Re: wool felted picture doneI clicked the piccie and it looks even better when bigger, especially the flowers.
Well done to you, you must have loads of patience. Re: wool felted picture doneI am so impressed June! You dyed the wool too?
It’s absolutely gorgeous and you should be very proud xx Helen xx

Re: wool felted picture doneI've had a go at doing this and don't know how you managed to get all the fine detail into that, let alone have the patience for all the dyeing. It's lovely and I'm extremely impressed,
Re: wool felted picture done
Yes I dyed the wool and what a messy job. I actually used some concentrated food dyes which were much stronger than cloth dies. Time consuming to say the least. I am now a widow and live with my memories.
Re: wool felted picture done
The alpaca wool is much finer than other wool so finer detail easier. I am now a widow and live with my memories.
