I thought about reserving again but that will be just 1 they might think I'm odd. Not long now, There new half way house is all ready. I hope a week in there next to my older girls will help them settle before I move them to the big run.
Re: About Fresh Start for HensHi

Re: About Fresh Start for HensThe time is getting nearer for my new girls to arrive and the panic is starting to rise..
So question 1 Will the ex battery girls need to be wormed and de bugged for red mite. question 2 Will they eat normal layers pellet from the start and can they have the same extras as my older girls. ie: pasta rice lots of different veg. They do love tomatoes. Thank you for your help. I will no doubt have more questions nearer the time.. Debz
Re: About Fresh Start for HensHi
Collecting my 2 on Saturday I got advised to worm and red mite treatment , plus start them off on layers mash as thats what they have been used to . I will also be offering treats as soon as i have wormed them plus greens like spinach only a £1 a bag near me Dont forget the pics !
Re: About Fresh Start for HensNot been on here for ages but thought I'd check in again.
Hi Aceface, we met on here way back when you collected my old coop for your rescues. Now here I am as a fully fledged FSFH rescuer and collection point with lots of ex commercial girls firmly nestled into my heart and home These hens have changed my life so much for the better :-) Emma
Love my boy Sylvester and his current wives Beatrice, Gladys, Isabella, Juniper, Kitty, Lottie, Maud, Nora, Milly and Prudence. Gone but never forgotten Arabella, Clara, Dolly, Edwina, Florrie and Hilda. Re: About Fresh Start for HensIt is a long time since we posted on this forum, but I am delighted to say Fresh Start For Hens is still very much alive and kicking and as an organisation, we go from strength to strength with new volunteers and new locations appearing on a monthly basis.
From our humble roots, we rehomed over 47,000 hens in 2019 and are set to beat that number this year! All those little lives saved gives us the warm and fuzzies However, we still have that humility - we KNOW we cannot do this without the tireless work of our volunteers nor without the wonderful rehomers who offer homes to these delightful 'second hand' hens :) If you are interested in rehoming hens from us or know someone else who might be, please visit our website, https://freshstartforhens.co.uk/reserve-hens where you will find 5 dates and about 100 unique collection points to choose from. And that just takes us to mid April - there are plenty more dates in the diary for the rest of the year! Our minimum donation remains the same as it was in 2008, just £2.50 per hen - we remain entirely volunteer run and self funding. Thank you for reading and please get in touch
