Re: Giblet the chickI have read all the posts and admit I have blubbed. RIP Twinkle.
Good luck for the intros and I hope you have a really happy ending to share soon ps. please keep the name giblet... Re: Giblet the chickThings worked out well, my friends other silky boy had died so Mr Fluffnut
was welcomed back. She'd picked out the prettiest silky lady I've ever seen, she looks like a tabby cat & at 5 months old we're more certain a pullet. Meet Pebbles, she's very sweet natured, much more mellow than Mr F was, he used to jump about Pebbles just stands still for ages! She's totally ok with Giblet, so this time it should work! Re: Giblet the chickWhat a pretty little thing - do you think she will still have the mottled effect feathering when , wonder what the right name is fo her colouration she is grown ?
It will be alright in the end , if its not alright, it isn't the end .

At 5 months I think she's more of less full grown & coloured. I hope so I like her just as she is! "He who is cruel to animals becomes hard also in his dealings with men. We can judge the heart of a man by his treatment of animals."

Re: Giblet the chick - new picsAt last Giblet & Pebbles have moved into a proper run! Hand built by dh & adapted
for Giblets special needs! The old teeny run new walk in run old coop I was given - cresoted & thoroughly sanitised Thats better extra wide perch for Giblet Giblets sensory garden - (patch of turf bits stolen from round the garden & pile of compost & sand) moving in day! Pebbles loved it, Giblet was rather scared but soon got the hang of moving along the log edging to find the food. Pebbles immediately got stuck into the compost & dug a huge hole! I'm so relieved we got them in there before the cold weather sets in, they were both getting coughs & sneezes as the old coop was drafty & damp. Pebbles is showing signs of being ready to start laying, I hope Giblet doesnt get upset when she disappears every day. I wonder if Giblet's natural instinct will guide her to the nestbox when she is ready to lay? "He who is cruel to animals becomes hard also in his dealings with men.
