Goodbye Mabel

I have just had to have my beautiful Mabel put to sleep. I am beside myself and found the whole experience very traumatic though I know it was for the best.
She was an ex bat that arrived as a bald sad girl who evolved into the fluffiest and friendliest chook ever.
Sadly the evil EYP got it's grip on her and no amount of antibiotics or draining of fluid helped her.
I feel so sad and can't stop crying. RIP little Mabel xx

Sorry to hear the sad news. I'm quite new to chicken keeping but I already understand how these little characters wrap themselves around your heart. Your ex-batt had an end to her life that was full of love, by the sounds of it, and you have just done her the last kindness possible.
Bea; 19 hens (most of whom I intended to get); 6 bantams (which I never intended to have); old Benji dog and young Toby dog (who I definitely wanted). Three years into country living and loving it.

Sorry you lost her - EYP is a horrible thing and the poor old batties do seem to suffer from it .. she had a lovely life with you {hug}

Poor you - having to PTS any pet is just so hard. But console yourself with the fact that you rescued her and she had a lovely life with you {hug}
